A ductless HVAC system can be an energy-efficient solution to making your home more comfortable. These are compact units that can heat or cool your home by zone and that don’t require ductwork for installation. Choosing the right one depends on both the structure of your home and your family’s needs in Virginia Beach, VA.

Consider Ease and Cost of Installation

A single-zone system is less costly and complex to install. That’s because there’s a single indoor unit and a single outdoor unit joined by piping. A multi-zone system still has a single outdoor unit but has multiple indoor units, making it more expensive. However, if you anticipate eventually installing more units, you should go ahead and get a multi-zone system since that would be cheaper than installing several single units.

Consider Your Home’s Layout

For smaller homes, a single-zone ductless HVAC system may be sufficient. If your home is larger or has more than one floor, you may want a multi-zone system. Even if everyone prefers roughly similar temperatures, you may want a multi-zone system so that you can keep bedrooms cooler at night for sleeping and the rest of the house warmer.

If you just need to heat or cool one room or a fairly small area, a single-zone system is probably sufficient for you. However, if you have multiple spaces inhabited by multiple people, everyone is likely to be more comfortable with a multi-zone system that allows them to adjust the temperature to their liking.
