Need New Thermostat

If You Notice These 3 Signs, You Need a New Thermostat

August 10, 2021

Owning an air conditioner helps to keep your family cool and comfortable throughout the summer in Suffolk, VA. When your AC system is running correctly, you won’t give it much thought other than changing the filter. If you’ve noticed any of these signs, it’s likely that you’ll need a new thermostat sooner rather than later:

Faulty Temperature Readings

One of the most obvious signs that your home’s thermostat needs replacing is that it has faulty temperature readings. You’ll notice that the indoor temperature reading is nowhere near what it actually feels like. To ensure that your system is reading correctly, it’s best to use another indoor thermometer to measure the temperature.

Display Not Working

Another common indicator is that the display screen isn’t working. When you have a digital thermostat, you’ll always be able to read what the actual indoor temperature is and the various settings you have turned on at any point in time. When your display screen goes completely blank, it may mean that your thermostat needs replacing.

AC System Not Turning On

As long as you have your thermostat set on auto mode, it should kick on whenever the actual temperature goes above your set temperature. If you notice that the actual temperature of your room is at least five degrees warmer than your desired temperature and your air conditioning system doesn’t kick on, you could have a bad thermostat. If you’re still using a manual version, use this time to upgrade to a smart model. Smart thermostats offer features that enhance comfort and convenience while increasing energy savings.
